Rebecca's Reason

Sarah Curtis' daughter, Rebecca, lived for only 12 hours, but her life sparked a reason that continues to grow. She was born with Trisomy 18, a chromosomal disorder, and though the doctors couldn't save her, the bills that followed her loss were a relentless, painful echo of our grief.

"In my deepest sorrow, my mother-in-law, Karen, insisted on taking me to a fundraiser—a purse party for a local food kitchen. Watching those purses be auctioned off, I turned to her with a sudden, clear purpose: 'We should do this to help parents pay their bills.' In that moment, Rebecca's Reason was born" said Sarah.

Our first purse party raised over a thousand dollars, which we gave directly to a grieving mom near Detroit. That small act of solidarity set us on a path that has since helped countless families.

We understand that the need is both practical and profound. We pay medical and funeral bills, lifting a tangible weight. But we also provide the emotional support that only those who have walked this path can offer. We help plan funerals, recommend grief counselors, and advise parents on how to honor their child's brief life—because we know you never realize the importance of a picture until it's all you have left.

Our work is a testament to the ripple effect of compassion. One mom we helped was so moved that she fundraised for a Cuddle Cot for our local hospital, giving other families the precious gift of more time with their babies. This is Rebecca's legacy: a community where no child is forgotten, and no parent has to grieve alone.

The organization has already helped 53 families in 2025.
